The Orlando ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter is a member of the global network of diverse communities, which is comprised of artists, scientists, developers and educators devoted to the advancement of the art and science of computer graphics and interactive techniques. The Chapter was founded in 1991 by a group of dedicated computer graphics enthusiasts and is organized and operated exclusively for educational, artistic and scientific purposes.
As a part of the oldest and largest computer organization in the world, the Association for Computer Machinery (ACM) we follow a long history of leaders, visionaries and creators of innovations in computer graphics. The Special Interest Group on Computer GRAPHics (SIGGRAPH) is the largest special interest group within ACM. This regional professional chapter has been formed to provide a year-round opportunity for the Orlando region to meet, organize and network with local professionals and students.
Specific objectives are to promote an increased knowledge of and greater interest in the science, art, design, development and applications of modern computing in computer graphics. The chapter promotes cross-industry interaction and multidisciplinary creativity with professionals, students, educators, artists, musicians, designers, programmers and vendors.
The Chapter's membership has been as high as 200 and strives to bring the highest level of professionalism and appreciation for excellence to computer graphics amongst enthusiasts throughout the Central Florida area. Orlando is proud to have played host to the 1994 International SIGGRAPH conference and again in July 1998. It continues to be highly active in the international activities of the organization and annual conference.
