Focus on Technology is featuring guest speaker Hans Rijpkema from Oscar winning character animation and visual effects studio for feature films, commercials and theme parks,Rhythm & Hues Studios.

Also at the event, Recruiting Departments of Rhythm & Hues Studios and other studios will be collecting submission materials for Artist candidates and Non-Artist Technical candidates. So be sure to bring your demo materials for collection.

Hans Rijpkema - Rhythm & Hues Character Technology Lead will present:

Hans Rijpkema was went to the University of Twente and earned a Master's degree in Computer Science. His thesis "Knowledge Based Human Grasping" under the guidance of Michael Girard of SCAN in Groningen resulted in a paper he presented at the Siggraph 1991 Conference.

Currently, Hans is responsible for a wide variety of topics related to character development, such as, character rigging and skinning, fur grooming and animation, and model creation and deformation. Over the last 10 years, he has worked on over 30 feature films including: Mousehunt, Babe: Pig in the City?, Frequency, Harry Potter I, Cats and Dogs, Elf, Scooby Doo, Riddick, Garfield and Narnia.

DIRECTIONS

Parking instructions:
The parking garage is located on the south side of Princeton across the street from the Science Center. On Princeton coming from the east take a left onto Elgin Road, then a right into the parking garage. Coming from the west on Princeton take a right onto Elgin Road, and a right into the garage.

Park on the second floor of the parking garage and enter via the glass walkway entrance to the Science Center over Princeton.
