Eureka!

Sunday, July 27, 2008
1:00pm-5:00pm

2008 Eureka! submissions must be postmarked by May 31st.

Submission Rules and Requirements

Please read through the rules and requirements carefully.  Entries that do not follow these instructions will not be reviewed by the jury. Please note that submitted CD-ROM and DVD-ROM materials will not be returned.

Complete these three steps to submit your work to Eureka! by the submission deadline (All entries must be postmarked no later than 31 May 2008 and received by 13 June 2008.)

1. Complete the 2008 Eureka! Computer Animation Film Festival Submission Form.

2. Prepare your digital movie file for submission on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM according to the following specifications:

  • The movie file should use NTSC format; a square pixel aspect ratio with a horizontal resolution of at least 640 pixels and at most 1280 pixels. Examples of acceptable pixel resolutions are 640 x 360 pixels, 640 x 480 pixels, 720 x 540 pixels, 1024 x 576 pixels, and 1280 x 720 pixels. If your piece is 720 x 480 pixels with an NTSC 0.9 anamorphic pixel-aspect ratio, please resize it to 640 x 480 pixels or 720 x 540 pixels to avoid your film being screened wider than it should appear.

  • The preferred movie file frame rates are 24fps and 30fps.

  • Valid container file formats are Windows .avi, QuickTime .mov, and .mp4.

  • Valid video codecs are DivX, H.264, Sorenson, MPEG-4,
    and WMV.

  • Valid audio codecs are uncompressed, AAC, AC3, and MP3.

  • Make sure to note the Total Run Time (TRT) on your submission form or media. If your submission is longer than five minutes, you must also indicate the start time (mm:ss) of the five-minute segment you would like the jury to review.

  • Label both the CD-ROM disc and its container with:

Title of the piece
Contact person's complete information: name, affiliation, postal address, telephone number, and email address

  • Send your CD-ROM in appropriate packaging to:

Orlando ACM SIGGRAPH
Attn: Eureka!

1416 Wilmar Ave.
Merritt Island, FL 32952

3. Include a still image that represents your work. This image is required for publications and pre-conference publicity, and it is used as a visual icon for your animation during the jurying process. The image itself is not juried.

Your still image must be submitted digitally either on the same CD/DVD as the entry or an additional CD/DVD, one image per entry. Send the highest quality possible, at least 300 dpi at 5 inches wide x 7 inches tall, TIFF format. Name your image file as follows: eureka_title_still.tif (for example: eureka_mytitle_still.tif)

*Collaborative and group projects are encouraged, but only one completed project per electronic upload or CD-ROM will be reviewed. Remember: one entry, one piece of media (electronic upload or CD-ROM).

Do NOT submit the following:

  • Film, videotape (any format), web sites, stereoscopic images, or other forms of display. Such entries will not be reviewed.

  • Pieces that include commercial watermarks or "bugs." Such entries will not be reviewed.

  • More than one entry or completed project per electronic movie file or CD-ROM. Media containing more than one project or entry will not be reviewed.

  • Fiber or pulp-padded mailers. If these mailers tear, the fibers can damage your tape and our playback equipment. Please use bubble-wrap mailers instead.
